United’s Injury List Hits Double Figures

Manchester United go into their Chmapions League clash with PSV Eindhoven looking to avenge their loss from the first game of the group stage where they totally outplayed their opponents and thoroughly deserved the win but such is football they lost 2-1.

United are currently on an 8 game unbeaten streak with their last loss coming against Arsenal at the very beginning of October. Louis Van Gaal certainly will be earning his money this week as for the Premier League match vs Watford on this past Saturday at Vicarage Road he was without a genuine striker amongst others and his injury list included Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, James Wilson, Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw.

Unbelievably when it rains it pours and LVG’s sick bay filled up even more on Saturday as the Watford game went on after Ander Herrera exited with a hamstring problem before the half and Phil Jones limped off the other side of half-time with a foot injury with neither expected to be fit to face the Dutch.

Perhaps the most worrying of the injuries and sadly we have mentioned this one last is the maestro that is Juan Mata, who picked up a knock vs Watford. Hopefully he can shake it off and feature vs PSV.

Given he was starting a Premier League match for the first time since 4th of October Memphis certainly looked like a man out to impress his manager and you can expect him to play vs PSV after turning in a great “man of the match” performance for his boss. Long may Memphis’ play continue as he looked lively and had many touches including – netting United’s opener by volleying home an Ander Herrera cross before the impressive Spaniard joined the growing United sick bay.

LVG’s activities in the transfer market are paying dividends now as we face an injury crisis of epic proportions and his blooding of youngsters last season and earlier this season can only hold us in good stead. The good news is that Martial and Mata may be ok to play vs PSV or at least make the bench and Rooney may be recovered from his illness – let’s hope so as we need all hands on deck!!.
