Thierry Henry: Pogba Can Be The Best Ever

Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford in a world record transfer. The Frenchman left Manchester on bad terms in 2012 after he decided not to renew his contract with the club, joining Italian champions Juventus where he has risen to stardom. Now rated as one of the best players in the world, Pogba has been hugely touted for a move to United and many respected journalists have reported that the midfielder has agreed personal terms with the club, and a bid of £100m will be submitted after the European Championships end.

Sky Sports pundit Thierry Henry is a big fan of his fellow countryman, and believes Pogba has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in history.

The 23-year-old has been hit and miss so far for France at Euro 2016, with many labelling the midfielder ‘overrated’. However, Henry thinks Pogba’s best is yet to come and the player could prove to be the best in the world.

“Forget about France, I think he can be one of the best midfielders in history.” Henry told Sky Sports News.

“He has the quality to do that. He needs to make sure he concentrates on what he can do well. What I love about him at the moment is that he’s doing what the team’s asking him to do; maybe he’s sometimes a bit more fancy at Juventus but because Griezmann is playing behind Giroud for France, he has to defend a bit more.”

“That’s the sign of his intelligence.” Henry added.

“He’s playing within himself in a way, to make sure the team has the right balance.”

Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, said last month that the player is keen on moving to Real Madrid after initial talks had taken place about a potential deal. However this has since fallen out of the spotlight, and a move to United is the bookies favourite.

“We all know about the quality, how good he is on the ball,” Henry said. “He’s an all-round player but he’s understood his role at this tournament.”

“Hopefully he can come back to the Premier League – it would be great for us and for whoever got him but he’s still a Juve player and they’re not going to let him go (easily).”
