Roy Keane Urges Manchester To Sign New Players

It`s no secret that several Manchester United legends, Roy Keane included, were not happy to see what happened after Sir Alex Ferguson left. It was never about the investments or about the talent. It was always about the attitude towards the game. Changing managers did not allow the group to form and become stronger and develop squad unity.. United were left astray when Rooney was out injured and failed to look motivated even when someone like Carrick was on the pitch. That’s because one player is not always enough to push an entire team from behind. As Roy Keane says according to the Independent, you need two or three players to step up during harsh times: “If they are going to recruit again then whatever about good players, what United need is two or three characters so on their bad days they’re able to grind out results. Chelsea will be stronger next year, Arsenal, and Man City too with their new manager. It’s not going to get any easier. I don’t think they have enough characters in that team to get them back into winning league titles.”

Keane may have spoken a bit too soon though as he forgot to take a closer look on what Manchester United did during the past couple of months. Those players he was referring to might be in United’s own back yard. Rashford, Martial and even Depay have all the potential in the world. They are game changers and even though they haven’t reached their full potential, the qualities are there. With proper guidance Rashford will bring back The Devils’ spirit. He has Rooney around to learn from and he has a bunch of youngsters from generations close to his ready to grow next to each other.

It would be hard to find someone with leadership abilities and plant him in the middle of LVG’s lot. Usually those who have the power to motivate a group during harsh times have been around for a while. Look at Lampard, Gerrard or at what Ferdinand, Keane, Scholes, or Neville represented. Other than Rooney, there are few players left in World Football who can be identified with the spirit of a club. Right now, other than Buffon, Totti and maybe Lahm, few can say they have given their all for the colors they represent. Fortunately, the generation LVG invested trust in, could turn into something special. So maybe investments should not be necessarily financial but rather be focused on keeping the squad together.
