Rooney’s Season Over?

Rooney’s Season Over?

Manchester United could face an injury crisis as star man Wayne Rooney is feared to miss the rest of the season after sustaining an injury last Sunday at Goodison Park.

The Englishman limped off at the end of the game against Everton and was seen with an ice pack on his knee. It is now reported that the injury appears to be more serious than originally thought.

The knee injury was caused by a clash with team-mate Daley Blind and an initial scan has revealed that Rooney may have tweaked ligaments in his knee.

Manchester United have stated that they are waiting on further information before making a decision on Rooney. However, if he has tweaked ligaments, it could mean the United skipper will miss the rest of the season.

The news would come as a massive blow to United, who have been brilliant since LvG decided to push Rooney up front to lead the line. Without his presence, they may find it hard to score goals as both Falcao and Robin van Persie have had poor seasons in front of goal. However, they may have to rely on the duo if Rooney misses out.

RVP has recently started to make a comeback from injury. The Dutchman has been out since February with an ankle injury, but played 80 minutes of the United under 21’s game, where he scored 2 goals.

With 4 games to go, United will rely on goals to see them secure a Champions League spot. Even without Rooney, you would hope RVP and Falcao can produce what is needed to get them the top 4 spot that is a minimum requirement for this season.
