Reports: Griezmann Wants To Play Club Football With Pogba

There is no doubt that the star of Euro 2016 was France’s striker Antoine Griezmann who was the tournament’s top scorer with 6 goals – twice the number of fellow countrymen Dimitri Payet and Olivier Giroud as well as Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo who all came second in the goal scoring charts with 3 goals each.

It has been widely reported that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is very interested in the Atletico Madrid forward and would like to bring the Frenchman to Old Trafford next season to add depth to his striking options and add an invaluable goal threat to his side. Of course, numerous other top sides like Chelsea and Paris Saint German to name but two are also credited with a serious interest in signing the player.

It appears that Griezmann is very close to United midfielder Paul Pogba and the United manager may be looking to leverage this friendship when he tries to sign the player. As ESPNFC report, Griezmann has had some very positive things to say about a potential move to Old Trafford:

“I always ask Paul Pogba about Manchester United,” Griezmann told Sky Sport News in Germany.

“I think they are a huge club with a really good infrastructure. I ask Paul about some of the players, and if they’re really that good, or if Jose Mourinho is really that good.

“You hear a lot of things [speculation] about Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain but right now I don’t see me moving to a new club. But it would be awesome to play alongside Paul one day.”

So Antoine Griezmann seems to be giving Jose and Manchester United plenty of encouragement while still remaining loyal to Atletico and it will be interesting to see if Griezmann and his friend Pogba are lining up in the red of United next season. It certainly looks like a good move for the club as they do seem to need more goals in the squad especially if Zlatan does only stay for this season.
