Projected United Line-Up To Face Man City

Well with the big game of the weekemd upon us it will be interesting to see how LVG sets out his men to thwart the Man City threat. We see United using a 4-3-3 line-up with Smalling and Darmian who have started every game for the Reds in the Premier League being relied upon to snuff out the threats of Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne. We also see United using Carrick and his mega-experience to anchor the midfield alongside the Derby rookie Bastien Schweinsteiger, allowing Ander Herrera to push forward and try to unlock the Man City defence and not worry so much about his defensive responsibilities.

We see the line-up looking like this…

—————–De Gea——————-
—-Darmian—Jones—Smalling—Blind—-
—-Herrera—Schweinsteiger—Carrick—-
——Mata——-Rooney—–Martial——-

Subs: Schneiderlin, Young, Memphis, Fellaini, Rojo, Lingard, Romero

Hopefully Wayne Rooney can celebrate his 30th birthday on the day after it with some goals vs City. As the Daily Mail report, Rooney has become the player to score the most goals in the Premier League before his age hit 30 years – he has 187 goals vs Alan Shearer with 176 goals. Rooney also has 90 assists which is ahead of Thierry Henry who is next with 74 assists, showing that Wazza is much more than a goal scorer – he is a true team player who scores plenty and sets up his team-mates by registering an assist for every 2 goals he scores.

We think a score draw is likely with Man City not tying a match since way back last season but if United can get a fast start then LVG’s men are pretty good at seeing out a win at Old Trafford so maybe a 2-1 win is our final prediction.
