Martial Praises Ibrahimovic

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has praised the impact that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has had at the club so far, not just on the pitch but also behind the scenes.

Ibrahimovic arrived on a free transfer from PSG last summer and has gone on to score 16 goals in his first 25 games. The Swede has had massive praise heaped onto his shoulders for more reasons than one, in particular from the younger players in the squad who benefit from his experience.

Martial, who finished as United’s top scorer last season with 17 goals in all competitions, has seen his form dip this season and reports in the summer stated that Martial was unhappy to lose the No.9 shirt to Ibrahimovic. However, the Frenchman insists that the 35-year-old brings the best out of everyone at the club.

The 21-year-old told MUTV: “He is a top player and we can’t help but learn from just being alongside him, playing and training with him, seeing what he is doing now and what he has done in the past.”

“In spite of his age, he has been a tremendous help to our side; he is doing loads for us. Let’s hope his form can continue because that is going to help us to climb the table, which is our goal.”

“We have a lot of experience in the squad and, together, we have to show what we can do to progress. We are a few points behind the top four at the moment, which we have got to make up, but it is down to us to maintain our good form and turn it into even more victories.”

“We have to take each game as it comes but if we can continue playing the way we are and add a few more goals, then who knows what we can achieve in terms of trophies this season.”

Martial is one of the best players in the world on his day, it is vital that the youngster begins to step up once again for United and show us all what he is capable of. Let’s hope the forward can put the start of the season behind him and kick-off 2017 with a better mentality.
