Manchester United vs Swansea: Player Ratings

Manchester United disappointed in their final game before the international break, losing out to Swansea City by 2 goals to 1. United began the game on the front foot and looked bright on the offence, but the hunger they showed in the early stages soon faded as Swansea pushed on. The Swans actually looked the better side towards the end of the first half, with Gomis and Sigurdsson firing wide with brilliant opportunities.

It was United who broke the deadlock just after the second half began, with Luke Shaw making a surging run down the left, crossing the ball low and finding Juan Mata at the far post who gratefully slotted home. From then on, it looked like United might look for a second and put the game beyond Swansea, but it was the home side who capitalised on some poor defending by the Red Devils, who were up the other end attacking before the Swans stole the ball. Andre Ayew scored, and assisted the next for Gomis just 5 minutes later – a goal that proved to be the winner.

Goalkeeper Sergio Romero could have the finger pointed at him for both goals, the Argentine looked extremely lax all game and was an accident waiting to happen. Gomis’ goal, which proved to be the winner, could’ve easily been avoided by the keeper – who is set to become United’s No.1 should De Gea leave.

Wayne Rooney endured yet another frustrating game in the league. Despite his hat-trick in midweek, the 29-year-old failed to do much for the side whatsoever, and could go down as one of the worst players on the pitch.
