LVG Keen On Signing Former Man City Defender

Manchester United’s shopping spree continues as LVG has opened talks with Fiorentina over a former Man. City center back.

Fiorentina is making a habit out of reviving Premier League players as former Manchester City center back Stefan Savic is ready to return to the UK. According to Metro, LVG has decided to begin negotiations for the 24 year old Montenegro international who left the Citizens back in 2012. Since then he has increased in quality constantly and has become one of the most efficient defenders in Serie A which says a lot about how good he is. Italy has always had some of the best defensive players in the world and the fact that Savic stands out is something to consider.

Rumors say that he is not LVG’s first option and that he is just one of the defenders on an extended list topped by Ramos and Otamendi. If Manchester do decide to go through with the transfer they would have to pay Fiorentina £20million. Money will not be an issue as seen during the past week when Van Gaal spent big for three new players.

Savic is going to face tough competition at Old Trafford where Smalling and Phil Jones have similar profiles to that of the Montenegro international. They have more Premier League experience and have signed contract extensions recently. The biggest question that should be raised is if United really need more similar quality competition for the same position or if they need a star defender like Ramos to become part of the starting eleven right from the beginning of the Premier League.
