Herrera: Pogba Can Be The Best In The World

Ander Herrera is confident his Manchester United team-mate Paul Pogba can become the best midfielder in the world.

Pogba signed for Manchester United last summer for a world-record £89m deal, he is regarded as one of the best midfielders around, but Herrera has backed the Frenchman to go a step further and become the finest midfielder in the world.

Ander Herrera has cemented his place among Pogba in Mourinho’s starting XI in recent months and understands the ability his team-mate has. The pair work excellently together and really help to bring out each other’s qualities, which Herrera believes Pogba possesses more than most.

“Pogba is a midfielder who has all the qualities,” he told Sky Sports.

“When you are a midfielder you normally have some special qualities but he has everything. He can shoot, head and defend and he can dribble one-v-one, but he’s still 23. He’s now in a very good moment but we can be optimistic with him because he can be even better.”

“He can be one of the best in the world and he wants to do it. He wants to be it.”

Pogba has been brilliant for Manchester United since his move back to the club, despite a lot of media outlets saying otherwise. He has scored 7 goals so far this season, chipping in with 4 assists as well. But Pogba offers so much more than that for the team, he is the complete player and his presence gives United a huge advantage over any team.
Herrera also laid out his ambitions for the season with Manchester United, stating that the club have a lot to fight for:

“We want to [get Champions League] but we have four competitions and we have to respect our history,” he said.

“In the Premier League we want to finish as high as possible but then we want to fight for Europa League because at the moment we are the biggest club in the competition.

“We are in the semi-final in the League Cup, a fantastic chance to play a final at the end of February.

“In the FA Cup we have to defend the title so a lot of things to fight for.”
