Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness says that although he thinks it is unlikely that Manchester United will win the Premier League title this season, he won’t completely rule it out.

Despite the Red Devils heading into Sunday’s game against Liverpool three points ahead of their rivals at the top of the table, he doesn’t think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side really have the quality to last the pace:

“Would it be impossible for them to win the league? No, they can get there. But I go back to just a short week ago, the Man City semi-final, City were another level. I think the momentum has started with them too. I just think there are better teams than United right now. On an even pitch, if you could guarantee they all had the same amount of luck with injuries, I don’t think United would win it, but it’s not impossible.”

To be honest, we will find out a lot more about United’s chances after the match at Anfield this weekend. Considering their excellent away record, the Manchester club do have a better chance than most of securing the three points.

However, they are facing probably the most consistent team in the Premier League over the past two years. It is a test which United will need to rise to if they are to become real title contenders. If they do, pundits like Souness will have to take them more seriously.
