Check Out Wayne Rooney’s Record Breaking England Strike Plus Many Other Great Goals

Wayne Rooney is his country’s leading goal-scorer having taken the record from Sir Bobby Charlton when he scored his 50th goal from his 107 caps moving ahead of the United legend who has 49 goals from his 106 caps. Rooney grabbed the England record when he took the record-breaking penalty at Wembley in the recent European Championship qualifier against Switzerland this past September. You can see the record-breaking strike in the video from the FA below.

Rooney has been in excellent form for his country this season and it looks as though he is starting to replicate that form in a Manchester United shirt after he turned in solid peformances for the reds vs West Brom on the weekend as well as against CSKA Moscow where he headed in the winner for United in mid-week. The captain just moved into joint second on United’s all time list where he lies tied with Denis Law on 237 goals. The only man ahead of Rooney is a familar one – yes it is Sir Bobby Charlton on 249 goals.

There has to be a pretty good chance that Rooney will grab his second record this season as he only needs another 12 goals to be equal with Sir Bobby and needs 13 goals to have the record on his own. In the meantime why not enjoy his record breaking goal for England as well as every single England goal from The Three Lions’ Euro 2016 qualifying campaign plus other highlights.
